Wyoming Precision Shooting Club

The Wyoming Precision Shooting Club (WPSC) is a University of Wyoming student organization that strives to teach safe firearm practices to the UW student body and instruct students on the sport of precision shooting. The club also competes in shooting matches in Wyoming and surrounding states. Founded in 2016, the club has accrued sponsorships from the National Rifle Association of America (NRA), Magpul Industries, Hornady Manufacturing Inc., and Leupold Optics. WPSC has also maintained a partnership with Gold Spur Outfitters, a Laramie arms dealer.

WPSC holds weekly classroom sessions where students are instructed on topics ranging from beginner topics such as firearm safety and maintenance to advanced topics like calculating bullet drop at various grains. Instructors consist of veterans, experienced competitive shooters, and industry professionals. Later in the week, the club will meet at the range to put classroom topics into practice. WPSC works to keep club membership completely free while still offering club-owned pistols, rifles, and ammunition for its members to use at the range.

The club also hosts a variety of events. Most recently, WPSC held an event called “Build-a-Gun,” where Gold Spur Outfitters gave a demonstration on how to build and customize an AR-15. They also hold annual raffles, where they raffle off items such as scopes, brand-new firearms, and boxes of ammo.
