George Mocsary, director of the Firearms Research Center and UW College of Law professor, said that the change would have a minimal effect on firearms in the dorms, but could have a larger effect on the “graduate population,” which is more likely to be 21 and older. Twenty-one-year-olds tend not to live in the dorms, he said, although there are cases in which older people serve as resident advisors. Resident assistants with a concealed carry permit, Mocsary said, would be required to store “their firearms locked up in a secure container.”
Mocsary added he knew of two events of violence on campus — outside of Wyoming — that were stopped by a concealed carry permit holder.
