The National Rifle Association’s Civil Rights Defense Fund (CRDF) has announced that it is launching its First Annual Law Student Second Amendment Research and Writing Competition. The CRDF ran similar writing competitions several years ago. Here is the boilerplate, as provided by CRDF (links added by me):

Since inception, the NRA Civil Rights Defense Fund has awarded millions of dollars for legal research, education and support of cases defending the individual right to keep and bear arms.

The NRA Civil Rights Defense Fund would like to make you aware of its First Annual Law Student Second Amendment Research and Writing Competition.

Any law student currently enrolled in an ABA Accredited law school is eligible to enter the competition by writing a scholarly article suitable for publication on one of two Second Amendment issues.  Articles must be submitted on or before March 1, 2024, to [email protected].  The awards in both categories are $5,000.00 for first place, $3,000.00 for second place, and $2,000.00 for third place.

Please find attached a flyer, cover sheet, and each of the two [1, 2] questions presented.

We encourage you to make eligible law school students aware of this writing competition and the awards associated therewith.

Eligible law school students are encouraged to send an email to [email protected] to request an entry packet.
