C.J. Box—a N.Y. Times best-selling author based out of Saratoga, WY—has agreed to work with the Wyoming Law Review to hold a symposium where legal scholars from around the country discuss their research covering some of the legal issues implicated in his books. This symposium will be held on October 18, 2025, in Laramie, WY, and the Law Review will be publishing a special issue in connection with this event early next spring.
Mr. Box’s best-known work is a 28-book fiction series following Joe Pickett, a Wyoming Game Warden, in his crime-fighting adventures around Wyoming (and other western states). Many of the legal issues implicated in his books involve hunting and wildlife conservation. Accordingly, the Law Review is seeking to connect with scholars who focus on hunting and other related issues that may be interested in submitting a written piece for review. To tie these submissions to Mr. Box’s novels, authors should include a brief introduction to their work discussing how their piece ties to Mr. Box’s books and the legal issues implicated therein.
The Law Review’s Editorial Board is happy to work with any interested authors to help them find ways to tie their articles or ideas to Mr. Box’s books. Given Mr. Box’s reputation, the Editorial Board believes that this event will draw substantial public interest and is very excited about this opportunity.
